About this speaker
Penny is Head of Social Impact at Akerlof, a B Corp and market-leading consultancy, specialising in integrating Modern Methods of Construction to realise better social, environmental and economic outcomes. With over 15 years experience of social value in construction, engineering, rail and more recently social care, Penny has worked on a number of high-profile projects alongside clients in the public and private sector, with suppliers, communities, charities and public sector bodies to design and deliver ambitious social value plans.
Penny led the development for BAM’s global social value strategy 'Enhancing Lives' working across ten Operating Companies across the globe and set in place the building blocks for Atkins-Realis social value strategy.
At Akerlof Penny works with clients in a range of sectors, helping them to solve their social value challenges. This might be developing strategy, working out how to implement strategy or drive change, how to measure impact and tell the story of how this related to them. Mostly, Penny provides coaching and support for people which helps them to build their confidence, helping them to drive cultural change around impact for themselves.
Penny is a Level 1 Associate Practicioner on the SVI Practicioner Pathway.
As Co-Chair of the board of ISV, recognising that there are multiple aspects to social value, Penny is keen to support the organisation to unite people and organisations around a positive future for social value.
